Lumber

We stock small amounts of high grade, hard to find lumber for sale.  It is not our primary mission, but some of these species are hard to find in Florida and we think our fellow woodworkers will enjoy them as much as we do.  If you are interested in some lumber, we encourage you to come by and take a look.  If you are not in the neighborhood, we can send you detailed photos and will ship.

Moisture Content
Please note that the the moisture content of all of our lumber is around 12%.  Here in Tampa, we have a semi tropical environment and even if wood was originally kiln dried over time it acclimatizes.  Please take this into account if you are buying out of this region.

There is a 15% restocking fee on all purchases.

Macassar Ebony

When you think of a dark wood, you probably think of ebony, and for good reason -- African ebony is believed to be the blackest wood that grows. But there is one ebony that differs from the stark black of the rest of the Ebenaceae family. It is called macassar ebony, and it is a striking wood with high contrast between its gold and black streaks.  It is one of the most exotic woods of the world.

Oregon Black Marbled Walnut
Every settler who made the journey to Oregon must have planted a few walnut trees on their new homesteads.  Some, like nurseryman Henderson Luelling, brought American Black Walnut (Juglans nirgra) from the east.  Others obtained their stock from the Claro Walnut (Juglans Hindsii) of California, which was being used as a rootstock for the English Walnut orchards. Claro and American Black have slightly different nuts but are otherwise very difficult to tell apart.  They liked one another enough to mate and produce hybrids that have nuts with the characteristics of both, so its unclear quite what this walnuts true name is - some is American Black, some is Claro, but most seems to be a mixture of the two.  Regardless, it is astonishing beautiful with great color variation in grays, blacks, golds, and browns.
