Mother?s Day always seems to sneak up on me. Today while packing school lunches it suddenly dawned on me that Mom?s Day is this Sunday. Does this sound familiar to you? If so, rather than make a mad dash to the drug or grocery store (where the card selection is by now no doubt a sad and picked over collection) how about making an engineering marvel that will be sure to impress?

To make the bouquet on front, you can use flower punches if you have them, or just cut out some simple flower shapes by hand. I guarantee that mom will adore your bouquet either way. While the outside of the card is cheerful and pretty, the inside packs a fun surprise because when opened, whimsical hearts pop up and dangle from thread (check it out here). Put yourself in mom?s shoes?wouldn?t you love to get a handmade card like this? This is just one of 25 designs that you?ll find in Pop-Up Cards: And other Greetings that Slide, Dangle & Move.

Cousin 1 Cousin Make the Connection: A Jewelry Line Review

When I first heard about the new line of jewelry components by Cousin Corporation of America I was skeptical. Snap together jewelry? Honestly, I couldn?t really see it being a great product. But that was before I SAW it in person.

I?m eating my words now.

I love the whole concept. In my mind (before I saw the pieces) I imagined cheap looking pieces with unsophisticated styles. On the contrary, Cousin?s new line looks really nice in person. All of the pieces feel like they are of high quality. And the best part is the flexibility. I can wear jewelry that has a Southwest feel to it one day and by only changing out a few little pieces I can wear something more modern? or girly.

Cousin 2 Cousin Make the Connection: A Jewelry Line Review

The different components are quite literally half of a snap device and interchange in a flash.

Cousin 3 Cousin Make the Connection: A Jewelry Line Review

You could wear one look to work and with different components in your handbag change out all of your jewelry in the taxi on your way to dinner with friends.

Cousin 4 Cousin Make the Connection: A Jewelry Line Review

Just as flexible and easy is the ?Make the Connection? line. Again, using snaps ? and in a few cases rings that snap into the snap- Cousin gives you the ability to change out necklaces and bracelets too.

Cousin 5 Cousin Make the Connection: A Jewelry Line Review

This is one of the bracelet pieces and the ring on the top of the yellow pendant snaps inside the snap.

Cousin 6 Cousin Make the Connection: A Jewelry Line Review

In no time you have a bracelet with a pretty dangling component.

Cousin 7 Cousin Make the Connection: A Jewelry Line Review

Or you can add a bracelet and necklace component together to make a necklace with a Southwestern Flair that coordinates with the ring and bracelet in the third photo.

I haven?t seen the whole line but as you can tell there are many components and lots of variety and flexibility. You could buy 6 or 8 pieces and not wear the exact same jewelry for quite a while.

Genius!

It?s been updated and it looks great! It?s Mosaic Art Now aka MAN. MAN provides mosaic artists with a comprehensive place to find out more information about mosaic than you thought you needed and it?s well laid out and a very elegant web site. This feels like it?s about art. I?m a fan of craft but I?m passionate about art and this site embraces the artistic side of mosaic. YOu?ll find inspiring work and articles as well as resources and the kind of information to help you take your mosaics to the next level. Go check it out?

Jeans.  There doesn?t seem to be a happy middle ground between the 1-inch show your crack super low rise jeans, and the high waisted much mocked ?mom jeans?.  J from Jillian?s Refashions came up with a solution.  She took a pair of mom jeans shorts and lowered the waistband by an inch.  She worte up a tutorial showing how she did it.  Go to her tutorial.

I have one child who will eat just about any fruit or veggie you put in front of her. My other child, though, digs his heels in at the thought of eating anything remotely veggie-related, spurring many fights and arguments over the dinner table. I think these plates from Alexis Birkmeyer on Oh Happy Day might help our cause. Kids can use the base drawings as a jumping off point for fun scenes with their food, and then they get to eat their art!

I?ve been a jojoba bean picker in the Sonoran desert, copy chief for a busy magazine in New York City, college writing instructor, and managing editor, editor, and author for Lark Crafts. But the hardest and most rewarding job I?ve ever attempted was teaching third graders.

It?s Teacher Appreciation Week! Looking for a teacher gift idea you can stitch up easily in an evening? Grab some felt and make Lisa Jordan?s sweet Apple for Teacher Brooch from our follow-up to Fa la la la Felt, Heart-Felt Holidays (now available for under $10 on amazon and B&N.com).

My nine-year-old niece Oona sewed one for her teacher last night between dessert and bath time.

Look how great hers turned out!

Check out these three cards Leslie Ashe made using spray mist techniques!

Leslie

HeycutenesscardAC2
HEY CUTENESS by Leslie Ashe

For this card, I simply dripped spray mist on the base of my card. I also used the mist to make my chipboard letters the color I wanted for my card.

Supplies: Black Damask Cardstock (71168) ? AC Cardstock, Gwyneth?s Graph Paper (35694) ? Sketchbook, Sydney?s Snapshots Paper (35688) ? Sketchbook, Paint (42242) ? Remarks, Fabric Brads (85578) ? Elements, Amy Tangerine Sketchbook Value Pack Ribbon (58817) ? Premium Ribbon, Strip Glue Runner (61712) ? This To That Adhesive

OhhowlovelycardAC1
OH HOW LOVELY YOU ARE! by Leslie Ashe

I wanted a polka dot background, so I punched a spare sheet of cardstock with a small circle punch and used it as a mask for my spray mist.

Supplies: Taffy Cardstock (AM 710-22) ? AC Cardstock, Paper Pad 6×6 (35696) ? Sketchbook, Palette (42240) ? Remarks, Cascade Scene (53341) ? Thickers, Cucumber Éclair (53226) ? Thickers, Strip Glue Runner (61712) ? This To That Adhesive

SunshinecardAC1
SUNSHINE, SMILE! by Leslie Ashe

For this card, I wanted my sunshine to have a ?shiny? effect. I created a ?marble? texture by using two different mists (yellow and orange).

Supplies: Lemon Cardstock (AM710-39) ? AC Cardstock, Cindy?s Sketch Paper (35680) ? Sketchbook, Bailey?s Brush Paper (35675) ? Sketchbook, Palette (42240) ? Remarks, Cascade Scene (53341) ? Thickers, Honey Paperback (53133) ? Thickers, Strip Glue Runner (61712) ? This To That Adhesive
